During a number of months with a maximum of a year, the youngsters attend one or more courses to learn
a trade or a specific expertise. After finishing a course the students obtain a certificate approved
by the ministry of education. Some courses include a practice period so that the students acquire
practical experience in the disciplines they have studied. At the same time there is a chance that
they may stay in the organization where they practiced their trade. The students of the technical
disciplines such as weaving and ceramics may offer the manufactured goods in the Inca Educa shop, or else outside for sale so that they can generate own income
from the acquired expertise. Furthermore, Inca Educa helps the students by active mediation to
find openings for work outside after finishing the course(s). The courses are divided into short training courses and courses that are supplementary to regular education.
Method
The students follow educational courses lasting up to 1 year at a minimal cost, and receive
a certificate recognised by the Peruvian Ministry of Education upon completion of the course.
By doing apprenticeships students have an easier time finding work after finishing the course.
Those that took part in the ceramics and weaving courses can sell their products through Inca Educa.
Inca Educa supports students that would like to start their own business on completion
of the course, offering them an "entrepreneur" workshop.
